Education
The outside-of-school curriculum at British Columbia Creative Center is aimed at student development from the age of 13. Our year-round program augments the regular courses offered by the current grade-school education system. Students participate in our program after school and on weekends to further the growth of their particular interests and talents.
The current educational system is unfortunately structured around a one-size-fits-all approach to learning. This is not conducive to allowing the hidden potential of those students who don’t fit that regimented form of learning.
In contrast, at British Columbia Creative Center (BCCC), a community of imaginative and talented students of art and design comes together to critique, contemplate, and create. Our community believes that original minds need to be individually nurtured and guided, a process that cannot be defined by a letter grade on a report card.
The education offered at BCCC is structured individually, so as to cater to the needs and ambitions of each student’s unique vision. Our programs are ideal for students of various backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, bringing them together in a stimulating environment where learning can arise from the inspirational and unexpected.
The pace of technological change in our information age has brought about excessively busy schedules, fewer opportunities for social interaction, and less time for young minds to think and contemplate about what the future holds in store for them. BCCC addresses this modern dilemma by providing a calm and enriching space where students can carve out the time and initiate dialogues from which exciting possibilities can arise. For the past 28 years, this organization has enabled hundreds of students to reach their true potential through hard work, passion, and careful guidance.
We believe that there are limitless avenues of pursuit in the arts, and so we approach creative education in a way that is both holistic and specific in nature. We believe in fostering well-rounded critical thinking, as we believe design thinking is essential for all fields of endeavor, not just art. Because of our diverse faculty and staff, students have the freedom to pursue their preferred fields of art and design, such as fashion, architecture, sculpture, painting, industrial design, etc. Our instructors are lifelong learners who seek to instill their enthusiasm for learning in all aspects of their teaching and mentoring.
While our curriculum is based on the customization of each student's individual interests, talents, and potential, there are several categories that most our students tend to concentrate on, these being Architecture Design, Fine Art, Art Installations, and Critical Thinking.
